How and where it was created
These fine illustrations were originally drawn in Ruth’s studio by hand using traditional drawing techniques. The design was then screen printed and carefully applied to the ceramic piece by hand. Each cup has a fine, hand dipped glaze finish.

About the Designer
Ruth Emma Fox is a freelance Illustrator. After several years working as a freelance illustrator in London, she has since returned to her roots, establishing her studio surrounded by the landscapes of the English countryside. Ruth’s work combines traditional and contemporary practices that produce a unique and high level of craftsmanship. Her work often draws inspiration from everyday objects, traditional craftsmanship, and the natural world around her.
Her dedication to craftsmanship had humble beginnings. Whilst studying Ruth inherited two complete engineering toolboxes from her grandfather. This would prompt an extensive and personal project, recording each tool and item through hand-drawn illustrations and digitally created, contemporary designs. These themes would continue and evolve both within commercial and personal work in the form of illustration and animation.
Ruth’s practice centres around craftsmanship and its social, historical, and traditional contexts. This focus is reflected in her collaborations with clients ranging from bespoke, high-end brands to leading galleries, museums, and heritage institutions.
Additionally, her own ceramic and print lines are exclusively manufactured within the United Kingdom and with a lot of care, from carefully selected suppliers. They are now stocked in select galleries, heritage sites and shops.
